Paediatrics

Dr. Natesan Thyagarajan who is known for his excellence, heads this department and ably supported by his duty bound and well mannered Senior Registrars. We have 20 beds inclusive of 3 High Dependency unit beds in this department. Round the clock emergency services are available with efficient medical team to tackle any emergencies like status epilepticus, acute severe asthma and Dengue shock syndrome.

The department of Paediatric Pulmonology along with an Asthma Clinic for children was inaugurated recently. Besides treating children with asthma, a great deal of resources is dedicated to educate parents on the pathophysiology and day to day management including the demonstration of inhalation devices. This unit is well equipped with Spirometry, Fibro Optic Bronchoscopy and Rigid Bronchoscopy to deal with all diagnostic and therapeutic needs of children.

Sooriya Hospital has been running a Pediatric and Neonatal Units successfully for the past few years. Recently we have started a 24 hours Pediatric accident and emergency services with the 4 bedded Paediatric Intensive Care Unit with 3 step down beds with facilities for ventilation. Pediatric outpatient services are relocated to the New Annexe 1st floor. Apart from our in-house Pediatricians, there is a wide range of Pediatric Super Specialists in various specialties like Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology, Pulmonology and Endocrinology make regular visits on a planned appointment basis. The spirometry and pulmonary function tests will be available all week days except Sundays. The emergency services will include 24 hours ambulance services, Nebulizations and Level III Critical Care Management.
