Recent Press Meet of Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit - December, 2009
|
Recently at Sooriya Hospital we have opened Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit under the able Directorship of Dr.Moose Kunhi Ms., Mch..
Since its opening in November 2009, about 40 successful open heart surgeries ranging from bypass operations to valve replacement have been carried out during the first three months.
The age group of these patient varied from 65 years to 45 days old new born.
We have also carried out heart surgeries under Kalaigner Kapeetu Thittam
Under the able guidance of Dr.C.P.Sreekumar and able leadership of Dr.Moose Kunhi the dedicated team of doctors and nurses is able to achieve excellent results through hardwork and commitment.
We hope to continue this for years to come.

| DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS
Sooriya Hospital has been running a Pediatric & Neonatal Units successfully for the past few years. Now it has started a 24 hours Pediatric Casualty and Emergency services with the 4 bedded PICU with 3 step down beds with facilities for ventilation. Pediatric outpatient services are relocated to the New Annexe 1st floor. Apart from our In house Pediatricians, Pediatric Super Specialists in various specialties like Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology, Pulmonology and Endocrinology will be conducting the outpatient services as given below.
The spirometry and pulmonary function tests will be available all week days except Sundays. The emergency services will include 24 hours ambulance services, Nebulizations and Level III Critical Care Management.Click Here

| Inauguration of the Paediatric Pulmonology |
The department of Paediatric Pulmonology along with an asthma clinic for children was inaugurated on 20.07.2008. 30 Paediatricians and 10 general practioners attended the function.
The Paediatric Pulmonology department was inaugurated by Dr.Prof.L.Subramaniam, founder of Paediatric Pulmonology foundation.
The bronchoscopic services was inaugurated by Dr.K.Venugopal, The Chairman, division of Pulmonology, Sooriya Hospital.
The spirometric services was inaugurated by Dr.C.P.Sreekumar, The Managing Director of Sooriya Hospital.
This was followed by a CME on Paediatric Pulmonology which was inaugurated by Dr.A.Balachandar, Paediatric Pulmonologist.
Dr.V.Varadharajan, The head of the department of Paediatric Pulmonology delivered the vote of thanks.

| Inauguration of the Cardiac Cath Lab |
Encouraging the achievements of the Cardiology Department, our Managing Director Dr. C.P.Sreekumar has initiated the Cadiac Cath-Lab. It was inaugurated by Mr. Fowzie, The Minister of Petroleum, Srilankha, on the 18th of March, 2007.
This unit is fully equipped with a Siemens Machine which enables the unit to do Angioplasty, both coronary and peripheral. This enables our doctors to give comprehensive care.
Dr. Jayarajah, Heads the Department. He has more than 25 years of experience in this field with senior consultants.
We are sure, it will lend a unique identity to our organization.

| Inauguration of Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit: |
Our renowned Medical Director Dr. Sooriyakala Sreekumar MD., DGO., MRCOG., has delivered her dream into reality on 18th march 2007; that is the starting of the NICU, in order to provide life saving measures to critically ill neonates.
Padmashri K.Balachandar, distinguished Film Director, presided over the function.
Dr. Deepa Hariharan MBBS., A.B(Paed).A.B(Neo).,(USA) is the Head of the Department and has tremendous experience in this field.
This initiation is certainly going to make Sooriya Hospital offer world class treatment for neonatals and thus add more value to our organization.

| Inauguration of Gastroenterology Unit: |
In order to give complete treatment, this unit has been added to the Surgical Gastroenterology department.
The Gastroenterology unit was inaugurated by Mr. Gopal, Assistant General Manager of State Bank of India, Chennai on 18th march, 2007.
Dr. Ravi MD,DM., heads the Department and has much experience in this field.
This unit is fully equipped with latest machines which enables endoscopy and colonoscopy.
