The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a team of Doctors and scientists under the able leadership of Dr. P. M. Gopinath.
Dr. P. M. GOPINATH M.D. D.G.O. has graduated from Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, India in 1985. He is working as an Associate Professor in the Institute of Social Obstetrics, Madras Medical College and Government Kasthurba Gandhi Hospital for Women and Children, India from 1986 till date.
He has been actively involved in the academic and teaching both Undergraduates and Postgraduates for the past 22 Years. He has been trained in Infertility under Dr. B. N. Chakravarthy in Calcutta. Dr. B. N. Chakravarthy is one of the pioneers in ART in India.
Dr. P. M. Gopinath was trained in Infertility and IVF in various centres in Australia and Singapore and has undergone extensive training in Endoscopy in France and England. He is also trained in video colposcopy He is the past President of the Obstetrics and Gynecological Society of Southern India.
He has conducted over 50,000 normal and operative deliveries, 10,000 Cesarean sections, performed 10,000 Hysterectomies, 30,000 Laparascopies, 10,000 Hysteroscopies, and over 500 cases of Gynec malignant surgeries, 500 Microsurgical Tubal reanastamosis, 500 cases of Proximal tubal cannalisations, 500 cases of Varicocelectomy for male infertility, trained and performed over 1000 testicular biopsies, 50,000 Ultrsonograms, 1,00,000 follicular monitorings, 5,000 intrauterine inseminations, 1000 ART cycles, 200 Intra cytoplasmic sperm injections, He is the pioneer in Thermal ablation and performed 550 cases largest series in the world .
He has published his papers on Infertility management in several National and International journals. He has been an invited Faculty in several National and International Conferences. His work in Infertility has been published and praised in several National and International press.
